New on Market: 10 Reasons Why the Huawei Hybrid Cooling LUNA2000 Is Revolutionary
Huawei has introduced the new LUNA2000-215kWh model with hybrid cooling. What benefits does it offer? How does it surpass its predecessor, the LUNA2000-200kWh Air Cooling with air cooling? Wondering why it’s creating such a buzz? Here are 10 reasons why it stands out.
1. Increased efficiency to 89.5%
The system's efficiency has increased from 85.1% in the air-cooled model to 89.5% at 0.5C (battery load rate). Higher efficiency means lower energy losses and more usable power during each charge and discharge cycle.
2. More compact design with space savings
The new model requires only 2.1 m² of floor space, which is 32% less than the previous version. Additionally, side clearance is reduced to just 0.1 meters, compared to 1 meter before. This allows for more efficient use of space, especially in large installations.
3. Dual cooling system
Older models relied solely on air cooling, but the new system uses a hybrid approach. Under high load, liquid cooling quickly dissipates excess heat. Under lower load and favorable ambient temperatures, the system switches to natural air cooling, reducing energy consumption.
4. Reduced energy consumption for temperature control
The new storage system significantly reduces energy consumption for temperature regulation. With two cycles per day, the consumption is a maximum of 16 kWh over 24 hours—almost half that of older air-cooled models. This results in lower operating costs and improved energy efficiency.

5. Easier installation without additional battery packs
The battery comes pre-assembled and filled with cells from the factory, simplifying installation and minimizing on-site work. The 215 kWh capacity can also be adjusted by removing one or two battery packs according to needs.
6. Extended lifespan
The LUNA2000-215kWh offers up to 9400 cycles with two daily charge and discharge operations, compared to 8000 cycles for previous models. This translates into a significantly longer system lifespan and lower total costs over its lifecycle.
7. More space-efficient placement – only 0.4 meters from the wall
Older models required a wall clearance of up to 3 meters to ensure sufficient air circulation. With the new smart cooling system, only 0.4 meters is needed, greatly expanding installation options in confined spaces.
8. Greater system scalability
For larger projects, up to 50 units can be connected in parallel within a substation for energy storage-only systems (ESS). In a combined setup with solar panels (PV + ESS), 20 units can be linked to a single smart locker, offering immense flexibility for capacity expansion.
9. Enhanced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
The hybrid cooling system is now classified as EMC Class B, allowing for safe installation near sensitive telecommunications equipment without causing signal interference or other electronic disruptions.
10. Optimized consumption in stand-by mode
In stand-by mode, the battery consumes less than 150 W. Under maximum load, consumption can reach up to 5 kW, depending on charging, discharging, and cooling intensity. This efficiency helps minimize operating costs even during peak performance.
A fully hybrid system
The hybrid cooling system dynamically adapts to operational conditions. At high temperatures, liquid cooling is activated to ensure maximum efficiency. When temperatures drop, the system switches to air cooling to conserve energy. In cold environments (below 10 °C), recovered heat from energy conversion is used to warm the battery packs. At extreme temperatures around -10 °C, an additional heat pump or, if necessary, electric heating is activated. A dual-circuit heating system ensures uniform heat distribution with temperature variation below 2.2%, extending the overall lifespan of the storage system.
